Capture Welcomes New Partner Assumption College

Introducing one of Capture Higher Ed’s newest partners, Assumption College, a private, Catholic, liberal arts institution in Worcester, Mass. The college also has a campus in Rome, Italy.

With an enrollment of about 2,100 students, Assumption College offers more than 60 undergraduate programs, 11 premier graduate programs and a variety of continuing education opportunities.

Established in 1904, the college was founded by the Catholic service and teaching order, the Augustinians of the Assumption. During its earliest days, enrollment was all male and primarily of French-Canadian heritage. In fact, a large majority of its courses were taught in French. In 1969, the college became coeducational, allowing laymen and women into the faculty as well as females into the student body.

Today, Assumption College prides itself on being “an ideal place to learn” with 100 percent of its classes taught by professors (none by graduate assistants) and students hailing from 29 states and 21 countries. A tight-knit community, 90 percent of Assumption students live on campus all four years, enjoying lively student groups and activities, intramural and club sports, a variety of community service and spiritual life opportunities, and much more. The college’s second campus in Rome, Italy, offers a one-of-a-kind study abroad experience, exposing students to the art, culture and history of one of the world’s most storied cities.

Also, athletics is big at Assumption — 25 percent of its students compete on at least one of its 24 NCAA-Division II varsity sports teams. The Greyhounds compete in the Northeast 10 Conference.

According to its mission: “Assumption College, a Catholic institution sponsored by the Augustinians of the Assumption and rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition, strives to form graduates known for critical intelligence, thoughtful citizenship and compassionate service. We pursue these ambitious goals through a curriculum grounded in the liberal arts and extending to the domain of professional studies. Enlivened by the Catholic affirmation of the harmony of faith and reason, we aim, by the pursuit of the truth, to transform the minds and hearts of students. Assumption favors diversity and ecumenically welcomes all who share its goals.”

We are proud to welcome Assumption College to the Capture family of partners.
