How to ‘Link-In’ to Your Community Relationships

As a university fundraiser, what you don’t know about your community relationships can hold you back. LinkedIn has 370 million members that post 2 billion updates a week. Clearly, the 370 million users are worldwide, but that is more than the entire U.S. population.

LinkedIn offers a recorded webinar on using the social network to identify relationships for corporate and foundation relations. We may default to thinking about our network, but the webinar focuses on leveraging:

  • Second-degree connections (our network’s network)
  • Understanding board relationships in the community

The 30-minute webinar has more than 4,000 views. The presenters cover what social fundraising is all about as well as five actionable steps on how you can start. It also includes a product demo and a tip sheet with three strategies on building, growing and using your LinkedIn network.

As you link into relationships across the country, remember the platform also provides a direct line of communication to alumni. If your office is looking into social media campaigns, enjoy the webinar, then drop us a line to ask more about social media campaign strategies designed for higher education advancement.
