Capture Announced as Kentucky’s 3rd Fastest Growing Company

Mar-Tech firm enters fifth year of bringing innovative technologies to collegiate enrollment management offices across the country.

Louisville, KY

Capture Higher Ed, a Louisville-based marketing and technology firm serving colleges and universities, has certified its continued rapid growth as No. 787 on the Inc. 5000 Fastest-Growing Private Companies in America, and Kentucky’s 3rd Fastest Growing Company.

During the 2015-16 fiscal year, Capture continued its double-digit rise, closing out the past three years with a combined growth of 509 percent. During this past year, Capture expanded its partner portfolio, launched a machine-learning predictive modeling software and expanded its enrollment delivery from traditional undergraduates to transfer students, graduate programs and international student recruitment.

Kari Alldredge, Associate Provost of Enrollment Management at the University of Tennessee, said Capture represents the future of the higher education enrollment industry.

“When UT started searching for a new strategic enrollment partner, we knew we wanted to look to the future of the industry, not the past,” Alldredge said. “Capture’s innovative technologies epitomized the future of smarter recruitment practices. We’ve not been disappointed.”

Since its founding, Capture has stayed true to building data-driven technologies, and in March 2016 the company launched its newest product, Envision. Envision is the only comprehensive predictive engine in the market today. This patent-pending predictive engine utilizes machine learning and a non-linear analytics to accurately predict who will both apply and enroll at specific colleges and universities.

Dr. Peter Barwis, a Capture data scientist notes, “As colleges seek better answers to old questions, the need for new tools built on cutting-edge analytic technology increases. Much of our work involves building the tools that make our partner’s work easier, more reliable, and more efficient.”

According to higher education research firm Noel-Levitz, nearly 73 percent of four-year private institutions are using a statistical model to help predict enrollment outcomes. But those predictions are grossly inaccurate as only 39 percent of colleges and universities actually hit their enrollment goals in 2015. In fact, in a recently published University Business study, one in four CFO’s believes their institution will close within 10 years.

“If I told most people Capture is a machine-learning company utilizing artificial intelligence to serve our partners, you might think I’m crazy,” said CEO Steve Huey. “But I’m not, and we are. You can see the technologies on the horizon that will greatly change the way higher education is going to do business, and we are helping drive that force. It’s very exciting times at Capture.”

One of Capture’s greatest success stories this past year is the performance of its Capture Behavioral Engagement (CBE) software. With CBE, Capture partner institutions are seeing on average a 5.9 percent click-thru-rate, which is eight times the industry average according to the American Marketing Association. Some partners experience conversion rates as high as 30 percent.

Take the University of Toledo as a case study. Toledo partnered with Capture to bolster the recruitment of first-time freshmen and international students. In a campaign utilizing dynamic content to communicate 1:1 with prospective students, they experienced a 29.1 percent CTR for traditional freshman, and for their international prospects, a 21.2 percent CTR. In turn this provided Toledo’s counselors with hundreds of additional interested students to communicate with while the student was actively researching their institution.
