Handouts From ICON ‘18: A Valuable Resource for Fundraising Professionals

Were you among the more than 4,000 fundraising professionals in New Orleans this past April who attended the AFP 2018 International Conference on Fundraising (ICON)? The 58th annual conference was an outstanding opportunity to discuss, teach and learn about important trends and issues related to fundraising and philanthropy.

Over the three-day ICON ’18 event, attendees were able to supercharge their professional development through more than 90 education sessions covering all aspects of professional fundraising and nonprofit management.

If you were not able to make it to the Big Easy—or you were there and missed some enticing presentations — AFP is posting the handouts from the education sessions on its website. With intriguing titles like “50 Ways to Love Your Donors,” “Always Look a Gift Horse in the Mouth,” “Don’t Quit! 5 Ways to Stay Successful and Sane as a Fundraiser” and many more — the collection of session handouts is a treasure trove for modern fundraisers.

As a developer and manager of marketing automation software for university advancement, we at Capture Higher Ed were particularly interested sessions centering on innovation and technology. In the ICON session handouts, you can find titles like “Cracking the Code of Facebook Fundraising,” “Fundraising: Challenges and Opportunities in a Changing World” and “The Innovation Imperative.”
